This video demonstrates a key part of the effective implementation of the Classrooms for the Future grant at Strath Haven High School starting 2008, instructional technology coaching. In one of my earliest recordings of my work (sorry for the shaking), I've documented how in-service day activites were transformed into a day of hands-on practice for teachers. This was a change from passive trainings that were mainly sit and listen.
The science, social studies, and math departments were invited to spend an hour exploring, discussing, and sharing things they've done, would like to do, and need to learn about Promethean whiteboards, ActivStudio (we've upgraded to ActivInspire since), and integrating each into their classrooms. Having a coach really made their difference for us. Today, each of our math classrooms is fully eqiupped with Promethean boards, ceiling-mounted projectors, document cameras, and engaging lessons in ActivInspire.
